A great actor, Charlton Heston, died on April 5th, 2008.
Can you find the connection between Heston and actinomycetes?
(Please leave your answer as a comment to this post. I will do the same).

Charlton Heston's image from Poletti.

Is there any connection, indeed? Maybe that some actinomycetes are twisted and Charlton Heston had a twisted mind? ;)

The most obvious is in "Ben-Hur" the mother and the sisters are infected with Mycobacterium leprae.
The other is "Soylent green", if I recall corretly, one of the variants ot the SCP (Single Cell Protein) was made with bacteria that eat hidrocarbons. One possible candidate is a member of the genus Nocardia.

Thanks for your answers! Mine can be read at Charlton Heston: the connection.
